About Noxbanner

A small publishing project covering one narrow subject: how everyday browsing filled up with adverts, pop-ups and trackers, and what a blocker can and cannot do about it.

Why this website exists

A single article page now arrives with a video pre-roll, two or three display slots, a cookie prompt and a request to send you notifications. The web got heavier, then it got noisier, and no site is going to volunteer a list of what it loads on your behalf. Noxbanner exists to look at that problem plainly — what an ad blocker actually solves, and what it does not.

We are a consumer information website. We do not build, host, licence, sell or support any ad blocker, browser or privacy tool ourselves.

The product category we cover

Our coverage focuses on ad blockers — browser extensions that filter advertising before it renders, suppress pop-ups and notification prompts, and cut the third-party trackers that follow a reader from site to site. Total Adblock is the product featured on our homepage.

This is a category where honest expectation-setting matters. A blocker filters what your browser is asked to load; it is not antivirus, it does not make you anonymous, and it cannot remove advertising a site serves from its own domain. Filter lists change constantly and large sites change their defences in response, so two readers can install the same extension in the same week and see different results. We say so consistently, because a reader who signs up on the strength of an overstated promise is a reader we have failed.

Our editorial approach

Claims we will not make

No invented statistics, no fabricated user counts, no rankings we cannot substantiate, and no countdown timers or manufactured scarcity. If a figure is not something we can point to, it does not appear on the page.

How we frame products

Featured products are described in terms of what they are designed to do, with the caveats attached. We use words like “may” and “varies” when those are the honest words, even where a stronger one would convert better.

Advertising, disclosed up front

Our homepage article is a paid advertorial and is labelled as one at the very top of the page, above the header, before any content. Nothing about that arrangement is buried in a footnote.

Corrections

If something we publish is inaccurate or has gone out of date, write to us and we will review it. Filter lists, browser policies and feature availability change often; we would rather fix a page than defend it.

Transparency about commercial relationships

Noxbanner is a commercially supported website. The homepage article is sponsored content, and the links to the featured product are affiliate links. If a reader goes on to use or purchase something after following one of those links, this website may receive compensation from the advertiser or its affiliate network.

That compensation does not add anything to the price a reader pays, and it does not buy a guarantee of positive coverage — the caveats above sit on the same page as the promotion. Full details are set out in our Advertising Disclaimer.

Who we write for

Our audience is general-interest: people who browse on a laptop and a phone, who are not security specialists, and who want a straightforward explanation before trying anything new. Content is written in US English and reflects US consumer-privacy expectations, including the rights described in our Privacy Policy.

We do not provide legal, financial, medical or professional advice of any kind, and nothing on this website should be treated as such. Always confirm a product's current terms and pricing on its own website.
